ChatGPT’s Breakthrough in HCI_01
People talk a lot about the AI revolution for OpenAI’s ChatGPT and its powerful. Instead, we may neglect its breakthrough in human-computer interaction. Why are people so easily accepting it quickly? 😮 It isn’t just how intelligent an AI tool is; it is also related to disrupting human-computer interaction. The first time we can smoothly and naturally talk with a Chatbot with almost zero barriers. The most fantastic experience of interacting with ChatGPT is feeling like talking with a natural person, although “he” has yet to develop a strong personality at this moment.
This article will first backtrack the history of NPL applied in HCI and previous dilemmas in using the NPL technique in HCI application. Then we go back to ChatGPT to see how it has a qualitative change in human-computer interaction due to technological breakthroughs.
1. History of NLP techniques applied in HCI
The breakthrough of ChatGPT on Human-Computer Interaction(HCI) first depends on the continuous development of NPL technology for decades. Natural Language Processing (NLP) is a subfield of computer science and artificial intelligence concerned with the interactions between computers and humans using natural language.
